Ainhoa Ainhoa
Ainhoa is a fortified village on the border between the Provinces of Labourd (Northern Basque Country) and Navarre. This commune, which is turned towards farming, has eight districts, the largest being the district of Dancharia, on the border between France and Spain.
For a long time, Ainhoa was a halt for pilgrims on their way to Saint Jacques de Compostelle as well as for merchants trading between France and Spain.
It is now classified as one of the most picturesque villages of France owing to its architectural and environmental diversity and its fortified construction.
Its main street, which was rebuilt in the XVIIth century, is home to many craftsmen.
