A region of tradition and cultural events
The southern Basque country has a rich and varied cultural heritage.
Historical monuments such as the Maison de l’infante (house in which Louis XVI lived with his bride-to-be Maria-Theresa, a Spanish princess) at Saint-Jean –de-Luz, the Socoa fort in Ciboure or the Ortillopitz farm in Sare, churches and scenic and natural sites are all proof of the region’s regional diversity.
Throughout the year, the life of the communes is marked by cultural events, which are forever attracting more and more people.
